Poetry Inside Out (PIO), a program of the non-profit Center for the Art
of Translation in San Francisco, empowers the imagination and builds
K-12 students’ problem solving, critical thinking, and literacy skills
through the translation and composition of poetry. Poetry Inside Out
Teaching Artists are inspiring individuals who love poetry and are
excited to share their passion for language with young people.
Candidates must participate in a paid 12-hour training session followed
by a 16-hour apprenticeship that prepares them to accept placement as a
professional Poetry Inside Out Teaching Artist in school sites
throughout the San Francisco Bay Area.
Application packet consists of: Cover letter and resume, 3 teaching
and/or artist references, evidence of publication in translation and/or
