Sun/Moon Stories - Call for original written work, for reading/performance at the Varsity Center the evening of Friday, August 18
What are we looking for?
The writing can include personal and philosophical and cultural musings on the Eclipse. Want suggestions? These might help you start thinking, but you're not limited to these: How will/should the eclipse be important to the world, or just to you? What can it teach us/you? Its historical significance? What does it mean in your life, if anything? Spiritual connections? Cultural essays?
Type of writing: Use whatever style of writing you choose. These are some examples to get you started, but you are not limited to these: short play, essay, poetry, spoken word
Maximum Length: max of 10 minutes for poetry or spoken word, max of 20 minutes for other written work
Age categories:
Less than 13 years old
Ages 13 to 18
Age 19 and above
If the entry is a group effort, the work will compete in the category based on the age of the oldest contributor
Work will be judged on quality, and potential interest as performance piece; creativity and entertainment value is a plus. All submissions must be your original work.
From all pieces submitted, the best of those fitting into the time allotted (2 hours) can be read/performed at the Varsity. Readings and performances will be the evening of Friday, August 18, at the Varsity Center in Carbondale.
Submit the piece in written electronic form (text document or PDF), OR send us a you-tube link to performance/recitation of the work. You must include your name(s), age(s), where you live, and your contact information. Send to stagecompanycarbondaleATgmailDOTcom
Deadline to submit an entry: July 18, 2017
Judges will be Professor Emeritus David Rush & Director/Actor Kevin Purcell.
