Writing Competition: The Malahat Review

The annual Open Season Awards prize money has been increased to $2000 CAD per genre (poetry, fiction, creative nonfiction) for a total prize giveaway of $6000! This is a $1500 increase over previous years. Three lucky winners will each take home a $2000 prize this year.

This annual literary contest is open to emerging and established writers of poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction. Contest entry fees vary by location, but there’s no limit to how many entries can be sent in of any genre. All entrants receive a complimentary one-year subscription to The Malahat Review.


Deadline November 1.

Contest judges this year are Evelyn Lau (poetry), Carleigh Baker (fiction), and Betsy Warland (creative nonfiction).
