Upcoming Writing Classes

I will be teaching three classes this fall:

Do you have a great idea for a short story or novel but don't know how to get started? This one-day workshop will teach you the basic fiction writing techiniques the professionals use. You will learn how to plot a good story, create interesting characters, write believable dialogue, and overcome the terror of the blank page. We will also discuss submission procedures and markets. There is a $2.00 supply fee payable to instructor at the start of class.

Memoir/Fiction Writing Workshop

This is an interactive writing workshop for those who want to improve their craft. We will cover such topics as point-of-view, character development, story arc, dialogue techniques, and more. Please bring a loose-leaf binder and 11 copies of written work to share for critique. The written work should be 10-15 pages, double-spaced, 12 point font, and printed on one side of the page only. Class size is limited to 10 students, and each writer will receive a 40-minute personal critique in class. There is a $2.00 supply fee payable to instructor for resource materials and handouts.
